Tubelines 2006 - 2011
 
Senior Field Engineer – Cockfosters Station Enhanced Refurbishment 2006 – 2007
 
I was directly responsible for the daily management and Quality Assurance of all civils construction contractors onsite. I was also indirectly responsible for all Quality Assurance of communications equipment installations, configuration and commissioning.

 

I was required to manage the control of construction issued drawings, red-line drawings, Field Change Requests/Notices, Method Statements and Risk Assessments, Staffing costs and procurement of LU Approved Materials.

 

Acting as a liaison between Tubelines and London Underground and English Heritage, I was involved in the design of the Station, from conceptual to final design. With the added responsibility for the Procurement of plant and materials and the appointment of new contracts.

 

The Station Refurbishment was valued at £7,000,000

 
Senior Field Engineer – Angel Station Modernisation 2007
 
I was contracted to Angel Station in order to complete all Civils and Premises works within a 3 month period in order to achieve ‘Practical Completion’ and avoid Abatement costs of £100, 000 per day thereafter. The £12million project had run for 11 months prior but failed to meet the deadlines for ‘Beneficial Usage’ under contract.

 

I was responsible for taking control of all Civils and Premises work scopes and contractors onsite. This also included the planning and costing of works valued at £3million. I was directly involved in the scoping of additional works and procuring specialist contractors whilst successfully negotiating allowance to work during ‘Traffic Hours’ whilst the Station was in use by the public.

 

I was responsible for re-introducing and upholding a strict Health & Safety policy onsite to ensure that contractors work safely and that both London Underground Staff and the public were safe during all construction.

 

Overseeing the completion of all Inspection Test Plans, Quality Assurance documentation and equipment test certification for submission to Asset Engineers/signatories for approval of completed works.

 

I was responsible for closing out all snagging works and demobilisation of construction offices.

 
 
 
Senior Field Engineering Manager – Southgate Enhanced Refurbishment 2007 - 2008
 
Responsibilities are as for the Field Engineering Manager, with the additional responsibility of managing all Field Engineers on the project valued at £7million. Organising and overseeing all Field Engineering tasks and ensuring the documentation, quality and standards meet required Technical Specifications.

 

Conducting SQ&E Audits to ensure that all site files and contractual documentation are present and up to date and ensuring compliance with standards and policy. Providing Safety and environmental statistics. Ensured only suitably skilled and competent people are permitted to perform the tasks asked of them. The audit process monitored the roles and responsibilities of Field Engineers and contractors with regards to their documenting of works and meeting specifications.

 

Liaison with London Underground Project Managers, English Heritage, Local Authorities, LU Tenants’ and Local Government Representatives.

 
 
 
Construction Manager – Acton Town Station Modernisation 2008 – 2009
 
The role of Construction Engineering Manager was that of full delegated authority to manage the day to day running of construction on a previously failed project valued at £25million. Responsibilities included the direction of Field Engineering Managers roles whilst maintaining control of work activities onsite.

 

I was involved in the planning and construction of a new suit of secure rooms to replace the existing Station Ticket offices. Managing the Migration of communications equipment and furnishings without disruption to Station traffic over planned weekend closures.

 

Acted as technical/construction ‘trouble shooter’ to onsite Design Engineers. ‘Problem solver’ to contractors and advisor to Field Engineering Staff.

 
 
 
Senior Field Engineer – Waterloo Station Modernisation 2009
 
My role was to plan and manage the refurbishment of 180 Station rooms within the remaining 4 months of the project. I was responsible for successfully negotiating with London Underground Managers, a schedule of works involving working during traffic hours without disruption to Staff and the public.

 

I also managed additional unplanned works, involving the demolition and reconstruction of staff offices within the 4 month period. Project valued £11million

 
 
 
Senior Field Engineer - Finsbury Park Station Modernisation 2009
 
Responsible for Carrying out conditional surveys to establish site offices, storage and welfare compounds for mobilisation of the project valued at £12million. Planning and managing the refurbishment of acquired offices, installation of site compound welfare facilities and security.

 

I undertook the planning and management of a two stage closure split over a six week programme to carry out essential enabling works to two main entrances to the Station prior to the start of Football Season. Finsbury Park is a major interchange Station with potential fines of £240k per day for failure to open. All works were completed within this time with additional works being completed early.

 
 
 
Night Construction Manager – Wood Green Station Enhanced Refurbishment 2009 – 2010
 
My role on this project was to take control of all activities onsite in order to complete all outstanding works and close out remaining snags on a project that ran over its completion date. A two month deadline for all works to be completed before abatement was achieved with additional unplanned works carried out.

 

Managing contracted staff directly in order to complete tasks and overseeing the demobilisation of site offices. Finalising the completion of all Assurance documentation.

 
 
 
Construction Manager – Six Station Fire Main Upgrade Project – 2010 - Present

 

On this project I am directly responsible for advising on construction issues during surveying of new fire main routes throughout six stations, including Archway, Goodge St, Leicester Square, Waterloo Station, Euston Station and Finsbury Park Station. I have the task of managing CIvils contractors and Mechanical Engineers across six Stations, ensuring Field Engineering Managers work to Tubelines Management Processes.

 

I am responsible for the development and issue of scoping documents for each station to Tubelines procurement agents for tender. I am also directly responsible for sourcing and managing Tubelines management staff over the six Stations.

 

Ensuring that contractor programmes meet the expected completion date and are adequately resource loaded.
